The remnants of Heidi got incorporated into the 2030 Great Extratropical Cyclone, which brought tons of rain to Britain and Ireland. The NHWC stopped issuing advisories on August 11, however the storm wasn't fully gone yet. It began to speed up while further weakening and became extratropical soon after. The storm then kept moving north until it hit the gulf stream and began to move east. Through the use of specialized meteorological equipment and remotely operated video cameras, the HLP is well positioned to gather data and document even the most severe hurricanes. It stopped at about low end category 3 before moving into an even cooler waters, then weakened even further into a category 1. The Hurricane Landfall Project (HLP) began in 2004 for the purpose of collecting data during hurricanes and tropical storms when they make landfall along the U.S. Despite initial predictions for it to track through the eastern Gulf of Mexico as a major hurricane, Ernesto moved across eastern Florida as a weak tropical storm. Heidi then encountered some cooler water and began to weaken. Ernesto first affected the northern Caribbean, reaching minimal hurricane status near Haiti before weakening and moving across eastern Cuba as a tropical storm. It then explosively intensified into a category 4 and continued to move north. It gradually intensified until it became a hurricane the next day. On 7:00 UTC on August 1 it was marked Heidi. It almost immediately became a depression although it had to wait a day for it to become a storm.

On July 29 the NHWC noted a small tropical wave emerging of the coast of Africa, and it was already organizing quickly. On the forecast track, the post-tropical cyclone or its remnants will move across Ireland and the United Kingdom Saturday night.140 mph (220 km/h) (1-min) 935 mbar ( hPa) NHC noted that while little change in strength is forecast during the next 36 hours, Ernesto is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone tonight and then become extratropical as it merges with a frontal zone on Saturday, Aug. The NHC said "Ernesto is somewhat surprisingly maintaining convection and well-defined banding features over the northern and eastern portions of its circulation despite being over sea surface temperatures of 20 to 21 degrees Celsius (68 to 69.8 degrees Fahrenheit)." Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Ernesto is moving toward the northeast near 30 mph (48 kph), and an even faster motion toward the northeast or east-northeast is expected during the next day or two. EDT (1500 UTC), the National Hurricane Center or NHC said the center of Tropical Storm Ernesto was located near 47.1 degrees north latitude and 32.9 degrees west longitude. GPM is a joint mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, JAXA.Īt 11 a.m. Rainfall around the rest of the system appeared light, except for the western quadrant that appeared devoid of rain. The Global Precipitation Measurement mission or GPM found rain falling at a rate of about 1.2 inches (30 millimeters) per hour east of center. The situation will continue to be monitored." For updates from the IMS, visit. Totals up to 20 mm could occur quite widely with higher falls locally. The advisory cautioned "High intensity rainfall over a relatively short period of time for many areas on Saturday night associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto. 17, the Irish Meteorological Service or IMS issued a Status Yellow Weather Advisory for Ireland. Sub-tropical storm has taken on tropical characteristics and was renamed a tropical storm by NOAA's National Hurricane Center.
